My name is Beth Cameron. I was
raised in Minneapolis and graduated from The University of Minnesota. Upon
graduation, I pursued a career in the private sector working for Merrill Lynch
and Prudential in the area of investment.
After a decade of Real Estate and Financial Planning, I moved to
California and returned to school to pursue a long time goal to become a
teacher.
I taught in the Vista Unified
School District as a 3rd and 4th grade teacher at both Beaumont Elementary
School and Temple Heights Elementary School (1996-2008). I acted as Grade Level
Chair and School Site Council Member for several years. I was also a member of
the District Math Alignment Committee and the Language Arts Adoption Committee
during her tenure as classroom teacher in Vista.
During my time in Vista, I was also
a Teacher on Special Assignment for three years, and acting Administrative
Designee, Parent Education Facilitator, GATE Coordinator, After School Program
Coordinator, Intersession Coordinator, Testing Coordinator, Student Study Team
Coordinator, Safety Patrol Advisor, and Junior Ambassador Program Advisor. I
was also a Summer School Principal in the VUSD in 2008.
After twelve years of experience in
public education in the Vista Unified School District, I was hired in the
Encinitas Union School District in July of 2008. My first position in Encinitas
was serving as the assistant principal at El Camino Creek Elementary.
In the 2009/2010 school year, I was
appointed to serve as the principal of Capri Elementary School. In my tenure at Capri, she oversaw many
successful educational initiatives. In
addition to running Capri’s regular instructional program and the school’s
highly touted dual language program, I also helped build an instructional wheel
program that expanded learning opportunities for students and gave teachers the
opportunity for weekly collaboration. A
school wide writing program was developed.
A campus beautification plan was put into motion and evolved into the
development of outdoor learning spaces being created.
I
am currently working on my doctoral degree in Educational Leadership through
the University of California San Diego and California State University at San
Marcos. I hold a Masters degree in Education Administration and an
Administrative Services Credential from National University, a Multiple Subject
CLAD Credential from National University, and Bachelors degree in History and
Political Science from the University of Minnesota.
On
a personal note, I have some accomplishments that are noteworthy. I am a
licensed VFR Pilot, a certified SCUBA diver, an avid skier and have world
travel experiences. I lived in the Hawaiian Islands for three years. I have
also held a Real Estate Sales License in Minnesota, Hawaii, and California. I
reside in Vista, California with my two teenage children.
